It seemed like last night’s Flyers game against the Coyotes would be bleak.
After the Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, Arizona scored four straight goals to take a 4-2 lead. That included two shorthanded goals in 24 seconds by Derek Stepan and Michael Grabner. That forced Cal Pickard out of the goal in favor of Brian Elliott.
In the third, Scott Laughton scored his second goal of the night before Dale Weise, of all people, tied things up. And then in the extra session, Shayne Gostisbehere ended the comeback that shouldn’t really have been a comeback in the first place:

If the Phillies decide to trade Carlos Santana, it sounds like they’re willing to eat some of his salary:
An industry source familiar with the Phillies’ thinking said the team was not in a hurry to eat salary because it would be akin to admitting that signing Santana was a mistake, but it would do so to facilitate moving Rhys Hoskins back to first base full time.
If Santana stays, the Phillies would be back in a situation where Hoskins would play left field and first base and Santana first base and third base. That is not ideal.
Santana started 16 games at third base in 2018, committing one error in 39 defensive chances. He hit .229 with a .352 on-base percentage, 24 home runs, 86 RBIs and 110 walks.
There is plenty of time before opening day to work this out, but the preference is clearly to get Hoskins to first base.
