Eagles center rips Cowboys organization, calls out their ‘fair weather’ fans

The Dallas Cowboys might have some extra motivation to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Eagles center Jason Kelce gave the Cowboys some bulletin board material Wednesday, calling out not only the organization, but also the team’s fans.

Kelce appeared on WIP in Philadelphia to discuss the team’s upcoming matchup. He didn’t hold back when talking about his distaste for everything related to the Cowboys.

“I would say mostly I just don’t think a lot of players, in particular me, just don’t really like the franchise, the organization, what is stands for—what it’s always stood for. This goes back to the lockout when they were getting replacement players, how outspoken the Dallas Cowboys franchise was in ending that. I’ve just never really appreciated what the organization—and what its fans really stood for. A lot of fair weather people from across the country that just kind of fell in love because they’re winners instead of having any type of emotional connection to the team whatsoever.”

There’s a lot to unpack there. Kelce says he’s not a fan of what the Cowboys “stand for,” which seems like a pretty damning statement. He mentions the organization’s stance during the 1987 strike. Cowboys president Tex Schramm was outspoken in his displeasure that his players were sitting out games.

He even went in on the fans, calling them “fair weather people.” Kelce specifically singles out fans around the country who only started rooting for the Cowboys because they won games.

After all that, Kelce does admit he has respect for a few players on the Cowboys. He mentions Sean Lee and Travis Frederick.

It’s been a busy couple days for the Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones had to defend the team’s coaching staff following the Cowboys’ loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 9. Even Troy Aikman questioned whether the Cowboys need to start all over.

The Cowboys also saw the New Orleans Saints sign Dez Bryant on Wednesday. And while that won’t impact the Cowboys in the immediate future, Bryant will get a chance to prove them wrong when the Saints play the Cowboys on Nov. 29.

If the Cowboys are hoping to right the ship, a win against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles would be a good place to start. The entire organization should be even more fired up than usual after Kelce’s comments.
