Another roster move as injuries seemingly come and go at the speed of light with this team.
Earlier today the Philadelphia Flyers announced that goaltender Alex Lyon and forward Tyrell Goulbourne have been loaned to their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Both Goulbourne and Lyon appeared in zero games for the Flyers during their latest recall, although both had seen NHL time with the club last season.

The Flyers sending Lyon back the Lehigh Valley makes it clear that Brian Elliott has been cleared to return after missing just one game following his collision with Travis Konecny in practice last Sunday. Lyon has had a hot start to his 3rd AHL season with a .934 save percentage through three games.
Goulbourne returning to Lehigh Valley leaves the Flyers with just twelve healthy forwards – although Ron Hextall said on Monday that James van Riemsdyk is expected back in 10-14 days – meaning that there is no extra forward at the moment. So does that mean there is something more coming? Maybe! But, considering how close Lehigh Valley is to Philadelphia, the Flyers don’t necessarily need to carry an extra forward or two when they’re going to be playing at home for an extended period of time.
With the active roster sitting at 21/23 active players, this also opens up the opportunity for the possible return of Michal Neuvirth, who is now eligible to come off of injury reserve ahead of Thursday night’s game versus Arizona, although there has been no update on his condition.
