Votes of Confidence for Jason Garrett and Eli Manning

Welcome to this week’s edition of “Jerry Jones says something stupid.

I’m your host, Kevin Kinkead.

Today on the program, we have Jerry going on a Dallas radio station to back up his head coach, Jason Garrett, who is 69-57 with one playoff win over the course of nine years:

Does he have some things he could do better? Yeah, like find a new offensive coordinator or sign a wide receiver or put together a semblance of a passing game.

The Jones/Garrett thing came up earlier this week after the Cowboys lost to the Texans, a game in which Garrett punted on 4th and 1 in Houston territory in overtime. Jones contradicted his coach on the decision after the game, suggesting that they should have gone for it, so who knows what he’s even thinking at this point.

I also find it somewhat funny that Jones refers to Garrett as an “asset,” which sounds like business speak and doesn’t seem to exude much “emotional intelligence” at all.

Everything appears to be status quo in Dallas.

Meantime, Pat Shurmur is sticking by Eli Manning, who was terrible last night and is pretty much cooked:

Does he?

Does he really believe in Eli?

I’m not so sure:

Former 97.5 the Fanatic host Matt Lombardo now covers the Giants for NJ.com, and wrote this today:

Against the Eagles, Manning only completed 24-of-43 passing attempts for 281 yards and one interception, 222 of those yards coming in the first three quarters.

Rookie running back Saquon Barkley accounted for 99 of those yards.

On 24 passes to wide receivers and tight ends Thursday night, Manning’s yards per attempt was a meager 5.29.

The Giants don’t know whether fourth-round draft choice Kyle Lauletta can be a legitimate NFL quarterback. I’ll be honest: Neither do I. He was available on the third day of the draft for a reason.

But Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman owe it to the organization to avoid the catastrophic misstep of the previous regime, which failed to get Davis Webb a single regular-season snap.

Ooof. Not good if you’re a Giants fan.

But Eagles fans should be happy because they’re going to see more of Jason Garrett and Eli Manning moving forward.

That’s it for this week’s episode, thanks for listening.
