Saquon Barkley’s long catch and run shows he might be superhuman

Just think, we have many years left of Saquon Barkley thrilling us. He’s just getting started.

The New York Giants running back got off to a hot start on “Thursday Night Football” against the Philadelphia. He had a run full of jukes and jumps that caused Fox analyst Troy Aikman to say it might be the best 9-yard run ever. And that wasn’t even Barkley’s biggest highlight of the first half.

In the second quarter Barkley took a short screen pass to the right. He started upfield and cut outside. He just kept making defender after defender miss as he worked his way back across the field. He broke tackles, ran around other defenders and generally made the Eagles defense look foolish trying to stop him. It was as exciting of an open-field run as you’ll find in the NFL.

According to Kevin Patra of, Barkley covered 90.87 yards on the play. It was unbelievable.

The Giants don’t have a lot else on offense other than dumping the ball off to Barkley and letting him make something out of nothing. And, crazy enough, Barkley is able to do just that plenty of times.

Barkley has already delivered more than a few great highlights, and his 55-yard play Thursday is probably his best pro highlight (no, it’s still not better than his insane run against USC in the Rose Bowl).

We’ll argue forever if the Giants did the right thing passing on a quarterback to draft Barkley second overall, but there’s no question Barkley is already an NFL star.
