Super Nick: Phillies 4, Mets 2

I’ve melted.

Nick Williams to the rescue!

The Phillies beat the Mets today, guys. They beat them 4-2 which means they won, they won against the Mets, and it was great. Let’s hit the highlights.

Nick Williams made the Mets cry

In the sixth inning, Carlos Santana doubled. Maikel Franco lined out, and then Scott Kingery walked (seriously, he did!). A strikeout later, Nick Williams saved the game.

Three-run pinch hit home run.

Nick Williams is a wizard. Give the man more playing time.

Aaron Nola made the Mets cry

It wasn’t the cleanest, most beautiful Aaron Nola outing ever, but he got the job done. He went six innings and gave up just one run and two walks. He struck out four. His ERA went from 2.04 to 1.99. And today, no one ruined his hard work.

Well, mostly. Tommy Hunter started the seventh, got two outs, and then gave up a run to bring the Mets within one run. But this time, the Phillies bullpen wouldn’t wilt under the additional pressure. And also, Carlos Santana hit a homer to lead off the eighth inning.

Odubel Herrera was awesome and also made the Mets cry

Odubel is still doing things, guys. And it’s spectacular. Today? He walked.

He also had a hit. His batting average is an MLB best .360. And he did this!

In short: the Mets lost, the Phillies won, and I enjoyed it so much. The Mets didn’t actually cry, but I did. I shed tears of sweet, sweet relief. Thank you for winning, Phillies. Smell ya later, Mets.

Have an excellent evening.
