Report: Trey Burton, Bears agree to four-year deal

The Chicago Bears appear to be committed to assembling a viable offense around second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, and signing free agent tight end Trey Burton should help them accomplish that goal.According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Burton has signed a four-year deal with the Bears. While we have yet to see how much guaranteed money is included in Burton’s deal, it would appear the Bears are betting on the 26-year-old’s potential in a big way. Burton caught just 23 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns for the Eagles last season, but he had some big games down the stretch and was behind Zach Ertz on the depth chart. An average annual value of $8 million would place him among the highest-paid tight ends in football. The Bears have also signed arguably the best wide receiver on the free agent market, so it’s obvious they want to give first-year head coach Matt Nagy — a former offensive coordinator in Kansas City — plenty of tools to succeed.
