Sixers Owner’s Letter Defends Meek Mill as Philadelphians Plan Rally to Support Rapper

The co-owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers became the latest high-profile voice to support rapper Meek Mill after he was sentenced to two to four years in prison last week. Michael Rubin, who is also the executive chairman of the apparel company Fanatics and the co-owner of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, penned a letter to Judge Genece E. Brinkley, who handed down the sentence after Mill failed a drug test and violated travel restrictions set out by probation. The letter was obtained and published in full by Sports Illustrated.
